“a green commercial“

this is apparently the first time EDF energy in the uk has ever aired a commercial. well..i guess we don’t see a lot pub ads around here as well. it’s interesting how this tvc is made by recycling footages from other films etc.

wHAt others seen on eArth….

another beautiful shot to go onto national geographic…

carousel

– shot by remi benali from azerbaijan
‘The carcass of an abandoned amusement park ride is a diving platform for teens on a Caspian Sea beach near Baku. Despite the nation’s oil and gas boom, almost half of Azerbaijanis live in poverty.’

the extremes of life..
just like….
people who mine for gold earn peanuts…
people who mine for coal earn peanuts…
people who mine for sulphur…
although they maybe well be very well to do among their peers..
but it’s still nothing compared to the people who are making the real money out of all these elements..
everything that they earn will never be enough to buy back what they sacrifice..
their health….and even their lives…

i smile looking at this shot…
feels lovely…the simplicity of things..
the skeleton of the carousel against the bright blue sky…
but i feel the bite of reality in my mind at the same time..

^^cAMerOn h!gHLAnds…”

cameron highlands.

somewhere i never quite imagine going because of the long journey. yeah…the long long…..long ride on the road. driving on your own? 7hours…going on a coach? probably 9hrs or more…

this trip came as a very nice surprise..i appreciated it and enjoyed it very much. for some strange reason, the journey didn’t turn out to be as scary as the sound of “7 hours”.

when i got on the toughest part of the journey, going up the mountains on road that had many winds and turns (about 1 hr of that), i saw some of the most beautiful mountain scenery which i can’t quite ever imagine seeing in this part of the world. really….my reference throughout the whole trip was “lord of the rings”. ok..maybe not that drama and epic and great…let’s not overpaint the picture. but, maybe a smaller scale of lord of the rings….way way smaller scale…

tea estates…quarries….and all sorts of farms covered all sides and valleys of these mountains. it’s really amazing. the sky is so blue. this is where most of the vegetables that i eat come from. nice….now i get to see their homeland. and experience the nice weather they get to grow up in.

i went to 1 of the biggest strawberry farm there. the big red strawberry farm. the name says it all. 4 acres of strawberries and several kinds of lettuce which are grown on hydroponics. that’s definitely a nice clean farm to visit. see some vegetables without the hassle of walking through some mud and soil. of course, there will be something i don’t mind…to put my farmer boots to some hard core use..hehe…

ok..i never quite know that strawberries grow like that. i thought i would get to walk through some really green and bushy shrubs kind of thing dotted with all the red and pretty strawberries. seeing them in plastic flower pots like that now just make them seemed less magical than what i imagine them to be. you know…like mushrooms, which are pretty magical as well. like a fairy tale.

doesn’t it look plastic? i get to choose which butter lettuce i want to buy. with 4 acres of lettuces…i was really spoilt for choices. there were romania lettuce…red and green coral lettuce as well.

killer tomatoes..only because they are really so pretty. i have a thing for tomatoes with stalk. the colors are just beautiful.

cameron apples. they look like eggplants.

i saw some people growing vegetables in their own backyard kind of thing and even so, they are still pretty even though they might just be next to the road i was driving by.

freaky plants…i like. the pitcher plants…venus fly traps..

and then there was cactus valley. where you get an overdose of cactus of all sizes and all species…pretty ones…freaky ones…

and then there are the famous boh tea estates to go to. i went to the one with a cafe hanging by the cliff 20mins before they close. the air was nice…the view was nice…feels very surreal.

cameron was once a colonial era before, which explains the tudor style buildings (the most recognizable being the diagonal patterns formed by the wooden framing stripes – half-timbering. and maybe chimneys?) some of the fancy hotels and resorts provide accommodation in tudor style chalets. really beautiful. “would you like a cup of tea?” – british accent… 😛

sam poh temple. quite a big one on a hill and it looks very well maintained. the colors of the walls and tiles are all still looking vibrant and nice.

the sk convent (sekolah kebangsaan convent) was previously a british army hospital. where it is now on a what might seemed like a small hill, it is actually 1500meter above sea level!!… :O

*find art in UK* (and everywhere else)…

the Big Art Mob

everyone gets a chance to put art on the map now. (only in UK i am afraid, thou they say on the website that anybody can send in from anywhere. Maybe it just wouldn’t appear on the map.) People can send in their photo thru sms…email or online submission. Send in with the artist name..the title of the work… and the address of the work and you will have a little flag on the google map with the image that you sent in.

Nice. i think it is good for visitors to UK who are out for a art or architecture tour. Places to look out for things besides going to the museums. i think it’s nice also to see what is art to everyone of us. i have seen pictures of a garden statue in somebody’s backyard…graffiti on a switchbox…funny shaped neon lights. Not everything is famous or done by somebody famous. i like the randomness of it all…

“meet the spartans” :: another spoof coming up..

300…britney…
carmen electra (again)…

you name it, the spoofs will have it. i checked out this new comedy trailer which my friend saw on tv in LA. Stupid but funny..hahaha…It’s one of those things, a love and hate relationship. People hate how stupid they are, but then, we all watch them because they are funny. For days after, i would probably go back home or office with all the jokes and funny acts i learnt from the movie. And there will just be something fun to fool around with in common among the few of us who caught the show. 1 thing i like about spoofs is how some of the cheap tabloid news come to life in them. And i must say that somehow, spoofs help me to remember the original movie which they were “inspired” from better.

The official website – Meet the Spartans is pretty “hot” too, and if you are high over carmen electra, check this out: Carmen has a crush on you

:: dolce & gabbana ::-still raw

dolce & gabbana spring 2008

(shot by steven klein)

i like how the whole thing takes place in probably an artist’s workshop, the abandoned and unpopulated part of town…near a railway station kind of thing, the rugged and raw look. The white light from the fluorescent tube kind of feeling. The colours and texture on the clothes are just what it is, what you see is what you get.

// my dArKest s!de \\

a friend of mine sent me this today..and told me that maybe 1 fine day, he might just be like 1 of the people in the video. To be honest..i don’t doubt that. For a while i teared when i was watching it (yeah..the music “helps”) but then i laughed. i don’t deny that at some point of time in my life, i DO want to pick up a monitor and trash it.

People CAN do anything in times of stress and high pressure. Sitting too long between the keyboard and the chair just does strange things to you. The side effects.

i have done the popping the bubble wrap one..
i have done the paper aeroplane one..

Till i have some strength to lift up something bigger, i think i will stick to just things i can pick up with my fingers…faster..and easier.. 😛
