it’s our day out to ubud.
in search of 3 things:
objective 1 – rich farmers
objective 2 – rich farmers (babi guling)
objective 3 – rich farmers (bebek bengil)
earlier that morning…we had the unfortunate case of having to move out of a hotel which was totally shit…shit..shit. it was so bad that i just realised that i have no pictures of it…absolutely nothing.
but people out there!!!
give LEGIAN PARADISO a miss.
trust me…unless you want to never have a wink of sleep or planning to spend the entire holiday bathing in the sun and sea and not in the comfort of clean water…please please please…
NEVER…go to LEGIAN PARADISO.
anyway…so it was quite funny that our driver from sindhu merthan transferred us to the new hotel in kuta…and the next day…he was supposed to come bring us to ubud for a day trip. who would have thought….he would be bringing us and our luggage again. the people at sindhu mertha actually think they themselves is not great….but well…wait till they really see what’s going on in there in LEGIAN PARADISO manz. it seriously doesn’t mean being a bigger hotel will be better and everything else that should have come with it.
sindhu merthan is small scale – just 10 units. but that would mean having time and attention for everything and everyone there. it’s cozy…we can just shout and play in the swimming pool. hahaha..
“i love this place too much to name”
i came by this when i was reading a book recently…damn…i have mentioned this lovemark of mine more than just a few times because it’s really charming..
so….about ubud…
i have googled high and low for traces of babi guling. mona and i had a first taste experince last year but it wasn’t quite satisfying. we were just being polite to each other when it came to sharing the tastiest part of the whole babi guling experience – the crispy skin. anyway…so that day…we were on our way to ubud (maybe about 45mins away from our place in sanur) to find ibu oka. and we did..we found it. let the rest be told in the following pictures…when it comes to food…there just need no explanation and no words put to it.
it was tasty tasty tasty…not something quite like the kind of suckling pig we have here in the chinese restaurants. but it was nice…they kind of roasted the pig with some spices and herbs and the aroma was just….hmmmmmmm…*drool*
2 packets of pock crackers and babi guling happy meal later…*burp*…we were on our way to explore what ubud is all about and what’s all around. but before that…the daily ritual – shopping. even though it’s just another art market..hahaha…
learning the art of hacking and how the prices go around here before we start attacking.
when i saw this…”this is it….” …for freddy..hahaha..
rai – mr driver…brought us too see a nice padi field and also a volcano. he told us some little stories and background here and there…but i think all of us were just stoned looking at how beautiful the places are. the wind was nice and chill….(though the sun was hot)
before we know it…it’s time to eat again..
bebek bengil (dirty duck)
serves crispy crispy crispy duck…i came here 2 years ago and couldn’t believe how tasty duck can be. yeah…kris found out for herself during this trip too…
it got to a point both of us were fighting to clean the plate..hahaha…
the restaurant wasn’t really a restaurant…it’s like eating in the little huts of a farmhouse. there’s a beautiful estate of padi fields at the back. and i actually saw a duck there!!
that’s 1 day in nice little ubud….more than what we could explore within the amount of time we had. that should leave us more things to see the next time we are back..
