fat pig chocolate

nice pink with a nice fun font too. organic milk chocolates, are they still supposed to be good for you? maybe…but these chocolates just look fun to have and eat. everything look so simple and basic. maybe that’s what makes it iconic in a way. it could become some kids fashion you know, children having one in their hands and they just go around pressing it on their noses. :P

even their website is so pinky

L’Inconnue de la Seine

That’s french for “the unknown woman of the Seine”. Seine…a river in Paris.

i started my lifesaving course just on sunday. and there’s a cpr part to it before i can qualify to be a lifeguard. yes….how i look forward to some bumming at the beach just enjoying the wind and the sun. not forgetting the responsibility of watching the people in the waters of course… :P

there’s a mannequin used in the cpr course and her name is little anne. yeah…it’s a girl. i remember this from my rescue diver course but i never quite thought that little anne is the universal name of this mannequin. the lifesaving instructor briefly explained the history of little anne, that a lady was drown in this river and her name is anne. so, cpr and lifesaving techniques were started because of the high drowning rate back in the older days. so the mannequin is named after that lady who drown in the river.

but wiki says that the lady was never identified!! :O so….she probably wasn’t an “anne”. apparently, the pathologist at the paris morgue was smitten by the beauty of this unidentified woman that he decided to make a plaster cast her face. she then sort of become a standard for beauty for a while.

in 1958, this face was then used for the head of the cpr mannequin and she was called “rescue annie”. and from then, it became “the most kissed face”.

sentosa

can’t get more commercialised than ever. at the same time, it seriously look like a dump now, with all the super major construction going on now for the new integrated resort..casinos…theme parks..hotels etc etc….

when i took a ride up the carlsberg tower to experience the “view”…eeeeek… what a mess. but still it was fun taking a slow spin round and round up the tower. if only it was open air…the wind must have been really refreshing.

the carlsberg tower
tower height: 110m
viewing height: almost 50 stories (131m)
lifting speed: 1.2m/sec
weight of tower: 197 tonnes

singapore flyer. the new one.

ferry’s wheel is really quite fun and not so scary after i tried the one in osaka for the first time. i think it’s fun to feel like you are on top of the world. for a few seconds… :P especially when you get to stand up in the capsule, you can just scream inside.

my own ticket!! (like winning a willy wonka ticket to the chocolate factory)

view from above..

when i finally reached the highest point…the sky has darken. and the singapore flyer now looks like an ah-beng spaceship. (i just wasn’t sure about all the blue lights)

just some from the fleet of 28 capsules

i accidentally took this picture with low light and it reminded me of the flames on my mum’s gas stove…

the night ended well with a really good place of carbona at 1 of my favourite italian restaurant al forno. (not forgetting a big dish of clams whipped up in white wine sauce…*drool*)

reflections thailand.

my wonderful hideout whenever i am in bangkok. maybe i will get to stay there more often if i haven’t been all so last minute with my bangkok trips the last few times. beautiful rooms…always unexpected. their new location has no more swimming pool…. :( kinda of miss their “sea dragon”..i was put into room 401 this time. a new one. it was the only room they have left for me during the period i was going to be there. it was still fun.

i was there with someone. ok…secret mission….the only secret part being who that person is. no i wasn’t having a rendezvous or i wouldn’t be publishing this. to cut the long story short. bangkok was fun!! i mean….what else can i be up to besides lots of massage..shopping…eating..chilling on top of the tallest buildings in bangkok…nice…

that’s all i can show/tell of this person now…who is it?

still working hard even on a holiday. this person is like charlie…never revealing the identity and always sitting behind a huge armchair..

reflections has always been eco friendly. this time, i see a few really green items in the hotel. for sale or just for their own deco purpose. they are fun to have around, give this hotel its character. i like this lamp shade made up of used detergent bottles. each of them has a little light bulb inside and it look really lovely at night.

and this little wardrobe in their hotel shop, is actually an old bathtub!! being reused to display the clothes and some items they sell. i really like it, but i reckon i would need many old bathtubs!! :O

this clothes stand is really very iconic as well…really colourful….so pop…

and i found a really long crocodile that stretches across 3 sections of the restaurant.

and this chair is made of many small old soft toys…i really like this as well. something which i definitely like to have in my own home next time. (yeah…i say that almost every time i see something nice…*sigh*)

and this is the little girl who greet us almost every morning at the restaurant. she’s cute….and a pretty little girl. protecting all the toys?

there’s a center piece in the restaurant with many flying “babies”..yeah, many baby doll girls. it is literally tagged and labeled as “flying baby”

and the tablecloth that makes me feel good first thing in the morning during breakfast.

room 401 is interesting thought minimal. there are “cameras” at the few “vital points” of the room. on the floor under your feet when you take a dump…on the floor under your feet when you take a shower..and above you when you sleep at night. i was getting really paranoid and started imagining there’s probably some psycho who is watching us somewhere. i actually like the feeling of looking straight into the camera when i sleep at night. like looking at stars….

the bathroom is open concept with my favourite shower head. feels almost like a prison cell, where there’s just a wall partition. my friend was really conscious that the smell will spread when it’s dumping time. but neh…the room was really spacious enough for the whole “diffusion” phenomenon.

i chose the disco room the last time i stayed there, and this is the zipper bed cover bed that i have rested on before!! now it becomes a lounging place in the internet access area for guests.

i have so much to share about reflections. but i don’t want to give away too much as well. i just want to stay at reflections again the next time i am in bangkok. don’t want to stop exploring this little wonderland..

wHAt others seen on eArth….

another beautiful shot to go onto national geographic…

‘As his mother scatters his ashes from a lifeguard boat, friends of Emery Kauanui, Jr., gather in a memorial paddle-out off La Jolla’s Windansea Beach on June 9, 2007. The pro surfer, 24, died the previous month.’

i saw this picture in the printed issue…
i am glad that it made it into the online..

i was very moved when i saw this picture…
really…
i am not a surfer babe or anything..
it’s just the gathering of everyone in the surfing scene…
all coming together to say their last good bye…

and i must say his mother is so supportive even till the end…
to return her son to where he will most love to be…
although it is the same place that has taken him away from her..
