reminds me a lot of clash of the titans. simplified…

(not counting in the modern warfare bits at the back)

i like clash of the titans a lot, and it was one of the first movie i watched when i was very young and still remember it. i know i always talk about the strange creatures and characters..(the blind witches and medusa) inside to my mother. and of course, everybody loves the unicorn.

i have very little impression of what west coast is like. the one thing i know is that there’s a Mac-ies drive-through.. :P

on sunday, i decide to go have a look around that area on my strida. yeah..my little explorer bicycle again. on my way there…i remember a few things. i remember Haw Par Villa, which is kind of nothing more than ruins now. kind of sad because it’s one of my favourite place when i was young. and i remember the pasir panjang wholesale center, where i learnt my fruits and vegetables when i was young. and of course i remember i got angry that the sea got reclaimed… when i was young. now, it’s all containers and big trucks and car import storage area at the place which was once the sea.

i got on a little jetty at west coast park, and a view of all the crane machines and containers.

building a new one? i can’t figure out if they are fixing or revamping an old one or building a new one.

peeping through restricted zone… :O (yeah, there is a “trespassers will be prosecuted” sign next to me) it’s interesting to see these things so close to me, the feeling is quite unreal. because they are really HUGE.

that hard next to the soft. the greenery of trees…grass of west coast park, next to the heavy industrial stuff. i can’t quite decide if it’s a balance. but i feel odd to see or experience a situation like this where i feel like 2 worlds are cramped together

*tRibute to Ah Meng*

Ah Meng is 48 years old this year.

she passed away yesterday of old age. 1 year in the life of an orang utan is about 2 human years, so it is about 96 years for Ah Meng. she is a sumatran orang utan who came to the singapore zoo in 1971 (10 years before i was born). she was initially kept illegally as a pet.

she will always be remembered for her efforts towards singapore tourism (in the singapore zoo) as well as several conservation projects awareness.

Future Fashion the evolution of style – an Earth Pledge initiative

i think this is a good sign. fashion has always been controversial and influential. hope that with this helps to encourage the related industries to do their part in the now hot topic – save the earth or go green.

years of fighting the fur trade to be used in fashion. hope that with this, more animals can be spared and less species being poached to extinction. as designers and manufacturers turn to new alternative materials and resources.

before the article gets taken down, i really want to keep it here to be remembered:

Why FutureFashion?
We have launched FutureFashion as an Earth Pledge Initiative to continue to educate, research and demonstrate to the industry and consumers that there are interesting options and that we still have a long way to go.

25% of agricultural pesticides are used on cotton, causing major water pollution, chronic illness in farm workers, and devastating impacts on wildlife. In the United States, cancer rates in states that produce cotton are significantly higher than in neighboring states that do not. The acidic chemicals used to process synthetic fabrics find their way into our rivers and streams, lowering the pH and destroying ecosystems. Materials such as bamboo and hemp are faster growing, more durable, and more renewable than conventional textiles.

Sustainable fashion is within reach and need not limit the range and quality of products that designers can offer, from couture to sportswear to home furnishings. By promoting eco-friendly products such as organic cotton, organic wool, corn fibers, recycled fabrics, biopolymers, natural dyes to industry and consumers, we can prove that style and sustainability can coexist – creating market demand and improving our environment and health.

<< bAcKtRack..dec07 :: japan :: ^^himeji castle^^..

himeji castle in himeji city.

when i got out of the train at himeji station, i sign in for the free bicycle rental to visit the himeji castle. when i got out of the train station, what i saw was really like…wow…i could see the castle even though it was still at least 6 traffic junctions away. the “white heron” castle, it is so white…so beautiful in the winter air. (no snow yet) it is really a very well preserved wooden castle because it has never been damaged in any wars and it kept itself safe through the 2nd world war too. i was really quite impressed. i wasn’t quite expecting to see something so clean and pretty and not so barricaded off to visitors. i can go to any floors, look out of any windows, didn’t see any “no entry” sign throughout the whole tour.

the flights of steps inside the main tower are really steep and narrow and i banged my head twice on the low stairway ceiling. ouch…the wooden structure sure is still well preserved. when i reached the top of the main tower, the view out was beautiful. i could see where i started from, the train station, about the same 6 traffic junctions away.. :P

what goes up…must come down. as i struggled up the narrow and steep flights of steps *panting*, i stuggled down the same way too *panting*. good thing it’s winter and the air is less humid, so i don’t really perspire so much doing so much walking and climbing and getting breathless.

the model of the entire himeji castle compound. hmmmm…there’s really a lot to cover.

i can see the castle from when i came out from the station!!

getting closer now…

i was welcomed by ninjas at the slope at the main entrace. first slope and many more to come inside the compound of the castle.

almost there….

the first sakura i have ever seen!! (not counting the plastic ones) and about the last as winter approaches.

ok..this picture really doesn’t justify how majestic the castle really is as compared to when you are really there.

there are supposed to be 11 dolphin statues (the mythical creature with its tail facing up) protecting the castle. something about dolphins are from the sea…and they will protect the castle from fire.

cabbage flower!! so pretty….white ones, purple ones….they look fresh in this weather that they feel edible.. :P

hmmm..if you think that serving the army in singapore is tough. i am not sure if any of the guys find this any better manz, being a millitary cleaner? propelling down the wall sure does sounds macho….to do pruning and weeding?

the navy?

my first oneShow submission…

happy chinese new year’s eve…

i went by the aye billboard at least 20 times already… just to get that 1 shot my partner and i needed for our first oneshow submission.
