my missing m&m post…hmmmmm…

Strange i lost this posting…anyway, now it’s back again…

i went by a candy shop the other day and what i was attracted to was nothing else in the store except a mini plasma screen playing some M&Ms commercials. There were about 6 short clips which were replaying and i stood there long enough to watch the replays 3 times. i haven’t quite seen some of them before. i came back and tried to YouTube for them but wasn’t quite successful in finding all of them….*sigh*..

M&Ms…good enough to be campaign in all sorts. Just like Mini….awwwwww….i love..

i remember how thrilled and happy i was when they decided to introduce the blue color ones!! It’s either i eat all of them first (when i have to share the pack with people) or eat them last (if i have the packet to myself), there’s no inbetween for the blues ones. It IS that extreme… ;)

Then came the black and white ones, as limited edition available at while stock lasts. i like those too, and that reminded me a lot of a 1960’s commercial i have seen as only as storyboard form before in a ad book. But i managed find it on YouTube!! Woohoooooooooo!!

Green with Envy? Little Miss Green came as a surprise for me. i always thought if there ever was going to be a girl M&M, it will be of a more feminine color (like the red), which of course would probably be too expected. But you know how these things go, there are always the “safe” options which are to be safe.

Then comes the red and yellow who are always partners in crime. Playing off each other like Beavis and Butthead, Pinky & the Brain…and many more successful sick and evil partnerships out there…

“Get the Glass!” got it!!

The FWA site of the year award!!

And People’s Choice award!!
(i am 1 of the people!!)

Go Get the Glass!!

i absolutely love this…
i think the characters are really funny, the Adachi family…haha…it does sound very real i must say. i can really almost imagine somewhere in the world, in real life, there’s a Adachi family on some weird mission. Ok, maybe not weird, but “James Bond” kind of mission?… :P Roll the dice!! Roll the dice!! i enjoy just dragging and just throw the dice any way i like…hehe..

Milkatraz?…hmmmmm…i like…

“Thank You For Smoking”

“smoking kills 1200 people a day.
we’re talking two jumbo jet plane-loads of men, women and children.”

Movie poster from MovieWeb

Imagine 2 plane crashes everyday. Unbelivable. And i wonder if there will really be 2 plane crashes from anywhere in the world every day. i came by an article “How Risky Is Flying?” which presented a chart that shows that the number of deaths per year on air carriers is 138 in the United States. And of course, that’s not counting the people who were killed during the 9/11 terrorist attack.

Read the article here.

So doing the maths, it will take 9 years for 1242 people to get killed in air carriers accident. A figure which cigarette can easily achieve in a day.

Is there really no way to stop people from smoking? Like ok, laws are passed to ban people from smoking in certain areas, compound or places, but cigarettes are still not banned like drugs. Cigarettes are like a drug but yet not. People get addicted to it, yes. They suffer from withdrawal syndrome, but not like go into some cold turkey fits and start foaming at the ends of the mouths.

i am not a smoker, but i certainly know of people who are. And i see not only their pockets suffer from the high price, but their health too. They get bad throats if they take it too hard and too harsh..chest pains…yellowed teeth and other side effects depending on individuals. Too much of either the good thing or bad thing (cigarette can be good or bad depending on how you see it) is never good, i guess if one really has to smoke, moderation is always better than overdose of something. Like my grandmother, who is down to 3 a day (from at least a pack a day in her younger days) now due to her old age.

welcome to Buckaroo..

almost at end of the road to sembawang park..make a left turn into the private estate..feeling like another Blooies or Big Ben pie, a shophouse within a private estate.

here you are…Buckaroo..

slightly Mexican, Buckaroo welcomes with a mini plot of cactus “desert” and a big ball one….

what Buckaroo is about…

how Buckaroo looks like…

Buckaroo welcomes you…

a tower of crispy golden brown onion rings…doesn’t just look fun, but it’s YUMMY… :P

ok…this is their biggest challenge in the menu. Buckaroo hot wings…
level 1- 10 of spiciness…and i am talking about Mexican..jalepeno… tobasco…spiciness to extreme sourness…that kind of spiciness…
*OUCH*

this is a plate of level 2 – volcano (the last time i had a level 3..i stopped at just 1 chicken wing)
ok, i did better this time…2.5 wings…hahaha..i always wonder if anybody has ever did a level 10. Sounds like something fun for a chinese wedding though, the morning procession of the groom coming to do the “i-will-do-anything-to-come-get-you” thing to receive the bride. Usually chili padi and wasabi …and bitter gourd are the way to go. But i will recommend injecting a little Mexican flavor now…hehehe..

and chill off with margarita….(not cactus juice)… :P

“bombastic” terms in the menus and recipes..

french..italian…spanish….german….

you name it..they have it..all the nicely decorated “è”…”á”…”ö”…”ś”….The beautiful words for the “haute” cuisine…

Beside the usual “fois gras” and “souflè”…This is something i came by in the recent issue of Reader’s Digest which definitely “extend my culinary reprtoire”.

Giblets – innards of a bird, specifically liver, heart, gizzard and neck, used to make a stock; as, giblet stock. Old french gibeket (game-bird stew)

Goujons – strips of fish or chicken that are deep-fried. French.

Daube – Meat stew, often a joint of beef braised in wine. French again.

Kasha – Buckwheat. Also, in Russia and Poland, a porridge made from buckwheat or simmilar grain. Russian.

Compote – Fruit cooked or preserved in syrup. “She gave us home made craneberry and apple compote with pork.”

Entrecôte – Steak cut from between the ribs. French again. entre – between, côte – rib.

Pesto – A sauce of crushed basil leaves mixed with Parmesan, pine nuts, garlic and olive oil. Italian.

Calamari – Squid. Italian.

Confit – Preserved meat. French.

Filo – Thin, layered pastry. Greek?

Spatchcock – A chicken or game bird split open and partly boned, then grilled or roasted. 18th century English.

Paella – Rice dish, originally from Spain, with chicken or seafood and vegetables, cooked and served in large, shallow pan.

Rillettes – Smooth pâté of minced pork or other light meat. French again, but Old French.

Tartare – Steak or fish that is served raw. French again and again.

Terrine – Meat, fish or vegetable mixture that is puréed or minced and then put in a container to cool or set.

finally…Martí Guixè..

he did 1 of my favourite Camper poster and bag…

he did the “Alice in the City” Rome film Festival 2006 poster as well…

he is of course bigger than all that….

i finally get to see his work LIVE at the Singapore Design Festival. He brought in his food design exhibits and they are really attractive and unreal. Combining food …ingredients with concepts..sure can quite be a deadly. Not like the-food-is-poisonous “deadly”..but endless possibilities for new creation “deadly”.

About him and him being a food designer:

“Guixè as a Food Designer builds edible products that are ergonomic, functional, communicative, interactive, visionary but radically contemporary and timeless”

really visionary..

really timeless..

UVA Millenium Kit. These are supposed to be grapes. There’s a tradition in Spain to eat grapes to celebrate on New Year’s Eve. And engraved on these grapers are lucky edible icons. Cute… ;)

These are organice green peas with icongraphic of 20th Century women.

A joke pie. Yeah sure, it looks funny already.

2nd generation IBM printer parts. Right…it is very specific – 2nd generation.

This is apparently steel..hmmmm..

i feel like dancing…

wear some Freezy Sneakers from good old DIESEL…

it’s amazing how DIESEL is always able to pull off almost any theme…any concept…any execution…just…anything. And the result? Still so “DIESEL”…

baby…let’s cRuise…

i can do with 1 of these…

“that’s hot”…

Happy New Year

Guess i didn’t get to do a post on the last day of 2007. Today is the 1st Jan 2008. Happy New Year.

New year resolution? Hmmm, we always have a tough time trying to keep to it isn’t it. Like there will always be distractions..side winders …reasons..execuses …(you name it)..along the way through the 365+ days to drive you away.

Here’s a little help which i think is all colorful and fun. But….might just be a little bit too serious and hard to keep up after a while.
