“smoking kills 1200 people a day.
we’re talking two jumbo jet plane-loads of men, women and children.”

Movie poster from MovieWeb
Imagine 2 plane crashes everyday. Unbelivable. And i wonder if there will really be 2 plane crashes from anywhere in the world every day. i came by an article “How Risky Is Flying?” which presented a chart that shows that the number of deaths per year on air carriers is 138 in the United States. And of course, that’s not counting the people who were killed during the 9/11 terrorist attack.
So doing the maths, it will take 9 years for 1242 people to get killed in air carriers accident. A figure which cigarette can easily achieve in a day.
Is there really no way to stop people from smoking? Like ok, laws are passed to ban people from smoking in certain areas, compound or places, but cigarettes are still not banned like drugs. Cigarettes are like a drug but yet not. People get addicted to it, yes. They suffer from withdrawal syndrome, but not like go into some cold turkey fits and start foaming at the ends of the mouths.
i am not a smoker, but i certainly know of people who are. And i see not only their pockets suffer from the high price, but their health too. They get bad throats if they take it too hard and too harsh..chest pains…yellowed teeth and other side effects depending on individuals. Too much of either the good thing or bad thing (cigarette can be good or bad depending on how you see it) is never good, i guess if one really has to smoke, moderation is always better than overdose of something. Like my grandmother, who is down to 3 a day (from at least a pack a day in her younger days) now due to her old age.
